My first 5k run



With the help of our dear friends Claudia and Dave Zulejkic my wife and I our now runners. We joined the Dallas Running Club and a program called "Couch to 5K" at the end of May 2009. The goal is to run a 5K race on July 4th. For two 45 year old couch potatoes who couldn't run for 2 minutes straight it was hard to believe that we could run for 3 miles in about a month. The DRC program is great, they put you on a schedule and work you up at a nice slow pace. On July 4th 2009 Rita and I ran our first 5K race! As a result of our new found excercise, I have lost around 15 lbs, have more energy and my blood pressure is down around 20 points. Rita is feeling better and has more energy also. Rita and I have now joined the Fall program to run a half marathon in November.
